BDO in South Africa offers a fully integrated mobile whistleblowing application for companies to promote and manage whistleblowing called BDO Tipoffs, powered by EXPOSEIT.

The application ensures complete anonymity and a continuous method of communication with the whistleblower to update them on the status of their report. The application is easy to use and allows the user to upload and send video files, photographs, documents, locations and other forms of evidence without fear of being identified. The system also has the functionality to send general broadcast notifications to the entire user base within a company.

The application allows anonymous communication by way of a simple report or a two-way conversation with a trained, independent moderator who will debrief the reporting user and assist them as appropriate.

What is whistleblowing?

Whistleblowing is where an employee or a third party exposes misconduct within the workplace, such as dishonesty, mismanagement, fraud, bullying, sexual harassment, corruption, illegal or unethical behaviour. Whistleblowing can occur internally to management or externally to the regulatory authorities, including the South African Police Services (SAPS) or even the media.
