Larey van der Westhuizen

Experience

Larey has over 20 years practical business and business management experience. Having been involved in security and logistics operations and projects throughout Africa, Europe, Asia and Australasia, Larey became an expert in close protection, investigations, logistical support and investigations and analyses. In 2009 he sold his interest in his company to pursue a career in law.

While practicing law Larey gained very specific knowledge and experience in the new Companies Act, choosing to make Corporate and Commercial Law, Governance and Corporate Structures his main area of speciality. In doing so he has presented in excess of 200 presentations ranging from small Board presentations to large audience seminars.

Larey is currently the Managing Director of Statucor (Pty) Ltd and Head of Legal Services at BDO South Africa Advisory, where he is actively involved in advising clients on corporate restructuring, shareholder relationships and commercial law matters. He also assists in the reviewing and drafting of commercial agreements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
• ACDR/CD Accredited Commercial Mediator
• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa

Other

Larey is a member of the Law Society of South Africa and the Institute of Directors SA and speaks both Afrikaans and English.
