Chris Smith

Experience

Chris is a chartered accountant and specialises in corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions and Capital Gains Tax. Chris is an external Examiner for UCT Master’s in International Tax Program and marks dissertations from UCT’s Master Program. He is a governing body member for finance at Welgemoed Primary School.

Chris joined PwC in 1996 after graduating from UCT. He became a Corporate Tax Manager in 2001 and was responsible for managing practice risk management and corporate clients.  He also specialised in international tax, structured finance transactions and the corporate banking unit.

He joined BDO in 2004 and became a director in 2008. Chris joined Grant Thornton Cape in 2015.Grant Thornton Cape merged with BDO South Africa in March 2018 and Chris is a director in the Tax Consulting Division.
